Honor, MI (PRWEB) May 14, 2009 -- Motorists on US-31 in Northern Michigan did a double take Saturday when they drove by the Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre's marquee. The sign read "Congratulations Larry and Michelle" along with the current movie titles "Monsters vs. Aliens" and "Fast and Furious". The Cherry Bowl was the site of a special ceremony before the normal double feature.

Larry and Michelle Mortenson met on May 9, 1987 and have fond memories of their first date at the Cherry Bowl Drive-In. So, when they decided to renew their wedding vows to celebrate their 20th anniversary, Larry and Michelle chose to celebrate on May 9th and held the ceremony at the Cherry Bowl. "We love the Cherry Bowl and have had a lot of great evenings here with family and friends," said Michelle. "We couldn't think of a better place to bring everyone together for a celebration."

Harry and Laura Clark, the owners of the Cherry Bowl Drive-In, were enthusiastic about the idea when Michelle approached them with the plans last year. "We're all about tradition and family here," said Harry Clark. "We were happy and honored to host the ceremony." Taking visitors back to the Fabulous 50's with the Finest in Film, Food, Fun and Family Entertainment, the Cherry Bowl is one of the oldest Drive-Ins in the country and the only Drive-In to show exclusively family-friendly movies. The Cherry Bowl Drive-In has been open every season since 1953 and is an annual tradition for locals and tourists throughout the region.

With the Cherry Bowl Screen Tower in the background and friends and family looking on, Michelle and Larry renewed their vows, exchanged a kiss, then invited everyone to stay for the movies. Wonder what will be playing for their 30th anniversary?
